Work in the Sierra Nevada Mountains this summer on an Amphibian Survey Crew
Announcement #ADS05-PSW-180
(Shaver Lake, CA)

The USDA, Forest Service – Sierra Nevada Research Center is looking to hire seasonal field assistants for a new study investigating livestock grazing effects on amphibians in the Sierra Nevada.

The job will last approximately 3 months between June and September (great for students!) and consist of hiking, surveying, and camping in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Description: For this position, you will locate and travel to selected sites; surveying lakes, ponds, streams, and meadows for amphibians; and collecting habitat data.  Some of the sites will be remote, with overnight backpacking trips up to 8-days.  Some preparatory office work may be done prior to the field season and possibly some data entry at the end of the season if time permits. Most of the surveys will be conducted on Sierra and Stanislaus National Forests between 6,000 and 10, 000 feet. People with backpacking and/or amphibian survey experience are encouraged to apply.  This is a great opportunity to gain field surveying experience and job training skills.
